Raising a glass to all award winning Inverness venues!

Sixteen licensed venues from across Inverness are celebrating after receiving official accreditation at the Inverness Best Bar None 2016 Awards.

The event, held at the Mercure Hotel in Inverness on Monday 9 January, rewarded venues for ensuring they and their staff have met a level of standards that assures members of the public they will be able to enjoy a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

The Gellions scooped the best Independent pub award whilst Johnny Foxes and the Den received the award for best Independent Bar.

The Chieftain Hotel received double honours, winning best Hotel Bar and Heart of the Community awards.

The Best Pub award went to The Exchange and Best Bar went to Auctioneers. G’s Nightclub picked up the Best Nightclub award and Encore Une Fois rounded off the awards with the Best Newcomer prize.

Each award winner will be nominated in their winning category at the upcoming Best Bar None National Awards Ceremony taking place in Glasgow on 30th March at the Hilton Hotel.

Arlene Campbell, the National Lead for Best Bar None Scotland said:

“The Best Bar None Scotland Awards get bigger every year and have become the recognised badge of high standards in the licensed trade.

“I’d like to congratulate all Inverness venues on their accreditations and also to the winners who will go forward to the National Awards in March.

”It’s great to see Inverness having a strong representation for the upcoming Best Bar None Scotland Awards.”

John McDonald Community Safety Manager and BBN Co-ordinator, Inverness BID stated:

“The Best Bar None Awards, now established as the premier event in the Inverness licensed trade/hospitality calendar, enjoyed an extremely successful evening at the Mercure Hotel.  The event was attended by representatives from many of the Inverness pubs, clubs and bars particularly by those within the City Centre.

The Award Winners all demonstrated a high level of commitment and customer care in the delivery of service to the many people who frequent or visit their premises to enjoy the hospitality provided.

Whilst all of the awards were well deserved, special mention must be made of the Chieftain Hotel who were voted the Best Bar None Heart of the Community for their support of community based groups, local sports teams, voluntary sector and many more established groups within their locality and across the city.”

The Best Bar None scheme, which is sponsored by Diageo, Molson Coors, Heineken, Tennents and Maxxium and Chivas Brothers is an integral part of the Safer Areas Initiatives throughout Scotland.
