Naloxone - Free Online Course
What is naloxone?
Naloxone is a drug that can reverse the effects of opioid drugs like heroin, methadone, opium, codeine, morphine and buprenorphine. It is only effective for opioid overdoses and won’t work with any other drug.
Micro Training Session – Naloxone, How To Save A Life
Senior Officer in Drug Death Prevention, Mariebeth Kilbride of the Scottish Drug Forum, will be our guest speaker on December 13th 2023.
She will discuss Scotland’s Naloxone Program and how you can become trained to save a life, administer Naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose.

Ask Support Care Training
At 10am on Friday 8th December 2023 , online Ask Support Care Online Training will be available to licensed premises. Best Bar None Scotland have engaged with Medics Against Violence to promote their highly regarded training package around domestic abuse - Ask Support Care. All licensed premises are encouraged to sign up. Free online training will be held in small interactive groups.
In support of the 16 Days of Activism against gender based violence, ASC is aimed at anyone who may encounter those affected by domestic abuse in the course of their day-to-day job. From doctors and dentists, to vets, hairdressers and bar staff. We can help you spot the signs of domestic abuse, ask the right questions and ensure those affected get the support they need.

Best Bar None Fife are offering ACT Now Counter Terrorism Awareness Training.
Fife’s licensed trade are welcomed to attend Action Counters Terrorism Awareness training, held at 10am on Monday 20th November at Styx , Victoria Road, Kirkcaldy.
Awareness campaigns are an essential part of keeping Scotland safe from terrorism . Led by a counter terrorism security advisor from Police Scotland, the training covers individual awareness and building a security culture within a licensed premises. Helpful for all staff in the licensed trade to increase awareness and improve the ability to respond appropriately. There will be an opportunity to find latest information on Martyn’s Law.

ACT Awareness - Strathclyde Students Union

Glasgow BBN - Naloxone Training
On Tuesday 24th October from 6-8pm , at Floor 8 of the Learning and Teaching Building, Strathclyde University, Richmond Street, Glasgow G1 1XU, Best Bar None Glasgow encourage licensed premises staff to attend Naloxone Training.

Naloxone is a medication used to reverse or reduce the effects of opioids. It is used to counter decreased breathing in opioid overdose. Effects begin within two minutes when given intravenously, five minutes when injected into a muscle, and ten minutes as a nasal spray. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids for 30 to 90 minutes.

Engage the Bystander
Licensed premises and their staff in Fife are invited to a free training session on Engage the Bystander led by Police Constable Allen Paul. This programme, seeks to open dialogue to raise awareness and challenge the thinking on rape and sexual assault and inspire individual leadership to support other societal prevention work taking place across Scotland.
Gary Kenhard, national coordinator for Best Bar None Scotland, advises - “the programme seeks to create an environment in which vulnerable persons feel supported, perpetrators feel challenged and bystanders feel empowered to support others in sometimes challenging situations. I would recommend as may staff as possible sign up to this event to create an even safer night time economy for all”
