Police Scotland Media Release

Chief Inspector Alex Kelly, Police Scotland Licensing and Violence Reduction Division, said: "Police Scotland is backing the latest Best Bar None campaign and hope the scenarios played out in the film, will make people stop and think about their own actions and any consequences which could arise from allowing themselves to become vulnerable on a night out.

Police Scotland's priority is Keeping People Safe, and Best Bar None's ethos encompasses the Force's Policing Priorities, including protecting the vulnerable, reducing violence and anti-social behaviour, road safety, road crime and serious and organised crime or counter terrorism.

"Equally, we encourage anyone working in hospitality to think about how they could take steps to keep people safe, such as offering to call a licensed taxi for customers. This extends from bar staff to door supervisors to restaurant staff.

"Prevention is key to creating a safe night time economy and by working with partners and the venues to train staff, as well as other agencies, including transport and security, we can all play a part in helping people have an enjoyable and safe social occasion or event, in our communities and cities across Scotland."
