Hospitality venues can be fun and dynamic places to work, providing customers with food, drinks, entertainment and an environment where they can relax and socialise. One of the key aspects of the job is serving alcohol. This role carries responsibility, as alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication and a number of negative consequences.

Good management practices which tackle the volume of alcohol sold and the environment in and around licensed premises can often make the difference in preventing criminality and incidents of disorder. 

Since the introduction of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 there has been an expectation that premises owners, managers and staff will do what they can to uphold the principles of the licensing objectives
