‘Party Prep’

  • Plan how you’ll get home before going out and make sure someone else, who’s not going out with you, knows your plan. If it changes, make friends / family aware.
  • How are you getting home? scenario 
  • Keep your phone charged and secure at all times, you may need it.
  • "Low Battery’ scenario 
  • Drink Responsibly – Avoid excessive pre-loading – Make it a night to remember for the right reasons, don’t spoil it.
  • Consider weather conditions – plan and dress appropriately
  • 'No means No' - do you know what consent means?  'Tea and Consent'

  • Don’t leave drinks unattended and if you are out with a crowd, stay with them.

  • When out and about, if possible stay with friends and keep to well-lit busy areas and footpaths, avoid taking isolated short cuts if possible.

  • Avoid confrontations, just walk away. Be aware ‘One punch can ruin two lives’ i.e. victim & aggressor.

  • Your vigilance in identifying anything that is out of place or suspicious is vital, report any concerns by calling 101 or 999 if it’s an emergency.
  • Avoid drugs or New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), you don’t know what they contain and there is no safe way to take them.
  • Be careful what you post online, what may seem harmless fun at the time … what goes online stays online.
  • ‘Online privacy’ scenario - Be careful what you post online 
  • If you see a vulnerable situation, do the right thing and report it at the time.

‘After Party’


  • Don’t use a taxi unless it’s from a licensed company. Pre-book before you go out and about.

  • Never get into a vehicle unless you know who they are.

  • If using public transport, try and sit near to the driver and bring to their attention anything that causes you concern.

 If you think that you have been the victim of sexual crime please report it to Police - you should not feel guilty or embarrassed

  • If you think that you have been the victim of sexual crime, there are groups who can help - Archway, Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS) -  or via the RCS helpline (6pm until midnight) - 08088 01 03 02.
  • Don’t standby, watch or tolerate Domestic Abuse, report it. Support is available for victims from Police Scotland (101 or in an emergency 999) or via the ‘National Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline Scotland’ - 0800 027 1234.
  • If you commit abuse against anyone, including a partner or ex-partner, we will find out and there will be consequences.
