Hamilton raises the Bar

Hamilton venues raise the bar

Six licensed venues in Hamilton are celebrating after receiving official accreditation at Hamilton’s inaugural Best Bar None Awards Ceremony.

The event, held at John Carrington’s Eating House on Thursday 23 April, rewarded the venues for ensuring they and their staff have met a level of standard that assures members of the public they will be able to enjoy a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

The Stonehouse, The Libertines, Hemingway’s Bar, The Butterburn and John Carrigan’s Eating House all received silver awards and Hamilton Rugby Football Club received a bronze award, which were presented by Margaret Mitchell MSP for Central Scotland.

Arlene Campbell, National Lead for Best Bar None Scotland said:

“The Best Bar None Awards get bigger every year and have become the recognised badge of high standards in the licensed trade.  “I’d like to congratulate all six of the Hamilton venues on their awards and it is great to see the Best Bar None scheme becoming established in the area during its first year of operation.”

Best Bar None Local Co-ordinator for Hamilton, George Currie said:

“This is our first year of rolling out the scheme in Hamilton and I am delighted with the interest that has been shown.

“Best Bar None is great opportunity for premises and partner agencies in the Hamilton area to work together in order to maintain safe and welcoming licensed venues. The process is very straightforward and Police Scotland and Council licensing staff are available to assist participants at all stages.

“I would encourage all licensed premises in Hamilton to find out about the scheme, Hamilton has a vibrant day and night time economy and it’s our ambition to ensure this is enhanced and supported by BBN by ensuring venues provide, and customers receive the very best quality experience”.

Best Bar None is a unique National Award Scheme aimed at raising standards and rewarding licensed premises who undertake positive management practices in support of a safe night out.
