Watch Manager Gary Wood Joins the SBRC/BBN Team

Scottish Fire & Rescue Service Watch Manager Joins the BBN Team

Gary Wood

Gary Wood has joined the Best Bar None team as a Senior Business Resilience Adviser.

He joins on secondment from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) - and will offer fire safety advice for venues taking part in the Best Bar None initiative.

Gary says: "Raising the bar in terms of keeping Scotland's licensed premises customers and staff safe from fire is my main priority. I want to help provide valuable advice as to how venues can protect themselves from fire, in turn helping to increase their business resilience. I can also offer guidance on how venues can comply with legislation."

He said that fire can have devastating effects on licensed premises. In some severe cases, premises may be unable to recover from a fire.

Gary has worked in the fire service for nearly 30 years, and was latterly a Fire Safety Enforcement Officer, with specialist skills in technical rescues.

A spokesperson for Best Bar None Scotland said: "Watch Manager Gary Wood brings knowledge and experience in the field of legislative fire safety and mitigation of fire risk to the BBN Scotland co-ordination team.

"Through his experience as an SFRS Fire Safety Enforcement Officer, Gary is able to provide advice and guidance to our local coordinators, assessors and licensed venues participating in the Best Bar None scheme. Gary is looking forward to assisting our scheme participants in making sure their businesses, venues, patrons and staff are protected against the risk of fire."
